Edox is the first watch brand ever to develop its successful involvement in the field of-water motor sport consistently and in the long term. From January 2007, the old established brand founded in 1884 is strengthening its commitment to this spectacular, nerver-tingling sport by becoming the official and exclusive timekeeper of the U.I.M Class 1 World Powerboat Championships.

Working in close cooperation with the Class 1 engineers, Edox is developing a new form of chronometry for this purpose based on satellite and GPS technology. These high-tech measuring instruments must meet exceptionally demanding criteria with regard to their water resistance, shock resistance and precision. This is a considerable technical challenge for the master horologists from Les Genevez in the Swiss Jura. The high swell that is occasionally encountered during the races in the open sea and at speeds in excess of 250 km/h call for a special kind of time recording.

Up to 200 000 spectators and many millions of television viewers share the excitement with their favourites and are fascinated by the up to 2000-hp projectiles. This is a competition against the clock. In future with the precision of Swiss Edox time measurement.
